1. Provider and scope
converting.net is provided by KV GmbH, Johannisstr. 112/113, 49074 Osnabrück, Germany (see imprint). These terms apply to the use of the website converting.net and all converters and tools offered on it (the “service”). By using the service, you accept these terms.
2. The service
The service lets you convert, compress and edit files and convert units and time zones. It is free of charge and requires no registration. All processing takes place in your browser, on your own device: the necessary software is downloaded from our server, but your files are not uploaded to us. The privacy policy explains this in detail.
How well a conversion works depends on the file, the formats involved and your device. Large files may need a lot of memory and time, and not every file can be converted without losing formatting, quality or content.
3. Your responsibilities
- Only process files that you are entitled to use, and respect the rights of others, such as copyrights, trademarks and personal data.
- Do not use the service for unlawful purposes, for example to remove copy protection where this is not permitted.
- Do not disrupt or overload the website or its servers, and do not access it by automated means in a way that goes beyond normal use.
- Check the results before you rely on them, and keep copies of your original files. Results of text recognition (OCR) and unit conversions in particular may contain errors.
4. Availability and changes
We aim to keep the service available and working, but we cannot guarantee that it is always available, free of errors, or that it supports every file or browser. We may change, extend, restrict or discontinue the service or individual functions at any time.
5. Liability
The service is provided free of charge. We are liable without limitation for damage caused intentionally or through gross negligence, for injury to life, body or health, and in accordance with the German Product Liability Act. Otherwise, our liability is excluded. This also applies to the loss of data: because files never leave your device, we have no access to them and cannot restore them.
6. Open-source software
The service uses open-source software that runs in your browser. Each component remains subject to its own licence; the open-source licences page lists them with links to their source code. These terms do not restrict any rights you have under those licences.
7. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms in the future. The version published on this page at the time you use the service applies.
8. Applicable law
German law applies, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. If you are a consumer, this choice of law does not deprive you of the protection of mandatory provisions of the law of the country where you live. If you are a merchant, the place of jurisdiction is Osnabrück. Should any provision of these terms be invalid, the remaining provisions remain unaffected.
