What PDF to TXT does
Most PDFs created from Word, websites or other programs contain a hidden text layer. The converter reads this layer and saves it as plain text. That’s useful for quoting, translating, searching, feeding text into other tools or simply copying content that’s awkward to select in a PDF viewer.
What gets lost and what to know
TXT has no formatting: fonts, images, colors and layout are dropped. Tables and multi-column pages may come out in an unexpected reading order, so check the result. Scanned PDFs are just pictures of pages and contain no text layer – then the TXT stays empty. In that case, run the file through our OCR PDF tool first.
How to convert
Drop the PDF above, TXT is preselected, click “Convert” and download. The text is extracted with pdf.js in your browser – your document is never uploaded.
