FLAC vs. MP3
FLAC is a lossless audio format favored by audiophiles and used for CD rips and hi-res downloads. It keeps every detail but takes about 25–35 MB per song. Many car stereos, older players and some apps don’t play FLAC. MP3 files are much smaller and play everywhere, which is perfect for mobile listening.
Keep your originals
MP3 is lossy, so converting can’t be reversed into true lossless quality. Keep your FLAC library as an archive and create MP3 copies for your phone, car or USB stick. Hi-res FLAC files (e.g. 24-bit/96 kHz) are converted into standard MP3. Tags like artist and title are often preserved, but check them afterwards.
How to convert
Drop your FLAC above, MP3 is preselected, click “Convert” and download. FFmpeg encodes right in your browser – no upload.
