When you need WAV
WAV is uncompressed audio, the standard for audio editing, DJ and studio software, video editors, phone systems, CD burning and many hardware samplers. Some tools only accept WAV, and editing a WAV avoids re-compressing the audio each time you save.
No quality gain
Converting MP3 to WAV doesn’t restore detail that MP3 compression removed – it sounds identical to the MP3. The WAV file will be roughly ten times larger. It’s purely about compatibility and convenient editing.
How to convert
Drop the MP3 above, WAV is preselected, click “Convert” and download. FFmpeg decodes the audio locally in your browser – nothing is uploaded.
