Why convert PNG to JPG?
PNG is lossless and great for screenshots, logos and graphics with sharp edges. For photos, though, PNG files get very large. JPG uses lossy compression tuned for photographs and often shrinks a photo to a fraction of the PNG size with hardly any visible difference. That makes JPG the better choice for email attachments, websites, social media and upload forms with size limits.
Transparency and sharp edges
JPG doesn’t support transparency. Transparent areas of your PNG will be filled with a solid background, so a logo on a transparent background won’t stay transparent. Text, screenshots and line art can show slight blurring or artifacts around sharp edges in JPG – for those, PNG often stays the better format.
How to convert
Drop your PNG above – JPG is preselected. Click “Convert” and download. ImageMagick runs locally in your browser, so the image never leaves your device and there’s no file size limit other than your device’s memory.
