Why GIF?
GIFs play automatically and loop everywhere – in chats, emails, forums, documentation and on websites – without a video player or sound. They’re perfect for short reactions, product demos, UI tutorials or showing a bug in a ticket. MP4 is better for anything long, but for a few seconds of animation GIF is hard to beat for compatibility.
Keep clips short
GIF is an old format with only 256 colors per frame and inefficient compression. Converting long or high-resolution videos produces very large files and visible color banding in gradients. Trim your clip to a few seconds before converting for best results. GIFs have no sound. Our compress tools can help shrink a large GIF afterwards.
