Why upgrade to DOCX
DOCX has been Word’s standard format since 2007. It’s smaller, more robust and better supported by current Word, Google Docs, Pages and online editors. Old DOC files can open in compatibility mode or not at all in some apps; converting them makes editing and sharing easier.
What to check
Text, formatting, tables and images are converted by LibreOffice. Macros from DOC files aren’t carried into DOCX (Word uses DOCM for macros). Complex old layouts or rare fonts may shift slightly, so look through the result. Because the file never leaves your device, confidential documents stay private.
