What is WebP?
WebP is an image format by Google designed for websites. It produces smaller files than JPG at similar quality, which is why many sites serve their images as WebP. When you save such an image, you end up with a .webp file – and older photo viewers, Office versions, printing services or upload forms often can’t handle it. JPG is accepted practically everywhere.
What changes
The JPG will usually be somewhat larger than the WebP. WebP can contain transparency and animation; JPG supports neither, so transparent areas get a solid background and animated WebPs are turned into a still image. For normal photos, you won’t see a difference.
How to convert
Drop the WebP file above, JPG is preselected, click “Convert” and download. The conversion runs with ImageMagick in your browser – no upload, no account, no watermark.
